choreographers

We at BBM are excited about our first year!! This year, we will be hosting a showcase on April 27 & 28, 2025 at Gibney Studio Theater (280 Broadway, Manhattan, NY) to present Musical Theater work by up-and-coming creatives. The first night, our industry consultants (select industry professionals, producers, directors, and choreographers) will be invited to come see the performances and provide written and/or verbal feedback to each creative team.

The following day, each cast will be able to spend time in the theater space to workshop and apply notes given by consultants. Then, that evening, casts will perform their “edited” pieces in a showcase open to the public.

Each piece will be professionally filmed at both performances for creatives and performers to have.

This opportunity is free to participate, but audience members will need to purchase tickets to attend the performance.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Maybe you have done a choreography showcase or two, maybe you have choreographed at small theater in your hometime, perhaps you choreographed a high school musical, as long as you do not have significant experience in choreographing/assisting/associating at large regional theaters or in the city.

WHAT IS THIS?

Submit an application to create and present work at our Spring Showcase. Work is a maximum of 10-minutes long, and should be a representation of a full-musical number that would be found in a piece of musical theater. Pieces are encouraged to include singing in an effort for the choreographer to learn how to collaborate with a Music Director. Performers should be directed through singing, acting, and choreography to produce this performance. The Spring Showcase will be April 27 & 28, 2025.

MUSIC DIRECTION?

BBM is so grateful to have a resident Music Director with our team. You are welcome to bring your own colleague in to Music Direct, or have BBM provide you with a collaborator.

HOW DOES CASTING WORK?

Creative Teams will review Virtual Auditions by artists interested in participating in this performing opportunity. BBM will then reach out to selected performers for in-person callbacks. This gives Creative Teams the chance to practice casting and learn about the best way to approach fulfilling character and ensemble needs.

HOW WILL REHEARSALS BE SCHEDULED?

Rehearsal will be based on the availability of industry consultants, music directors, and voice/dance coaches. Outside of those rehearsals (scheduled by BBM), choreographers can work with their dances to add-on additional time.
