black box movers
Providing an educational space to give aspiring Choreographers and Performers a place to practice and grow.
April 2025 marked Black Box Mover’s (BBM) inaugural showcase in Manhattan. Dedicated to presenting full-length Musical Theater numbers by up-and-coming creatives. At our annual showcase, work is presented for two nights in a row. The first night, our industry consultants (select industry professionals, producers, directors, and choreographers) come see the performances and provide written and/or verbal feedback to each creative team.
The following day, each cast spends workshop time in the theater space to apply notes. Then, that evening, the cast will perform their final pieces in a showcase open to the public. Each piece is professionally filmed at both performances for creatives and performers to have.
More information about the 2026 Black Box Mover’s Showcase will be released this winter! Stay tuned for more information!

Support the Future of Broadway
We are so excited to be hosting our 2nd Annual Black Box Movers Choreography Showcase!
Last year we saw our community rally together to create nine amazing musical theater pieces by up and coming choreographers with over 90 local NYC-based performers. We saw sold out performances, over 250 livestream attendees, and an immense amount of support through donors like you!
This year we are working to provide choreographers with production stipends to be used as they see fit (rehearsal space, costumes, props, music, etc.). We also will be upgrading our space to a larger theater with an additional night of public performances, the addition of wireless body mics for singers, and continued use of livestream and recording professionals.
Last year we were able to raise about $13,000.00, which helped cover about 75% of our overall cost. Our goal this year is to raise enough to cover this showcase by 100% plus have some remaining funds to begin fall programming.
